The New Year
I can not believe it is already 2008. There are some times when I can remember waiting and hoping for 1994 because that was the year I graduated from high school. Now, that year that once seemed so grand to me seems so small. Life is funny that way sometimes. Things that we as humans put as large milestones and mountains to climb turn out to be minor stepping stones into the person God is molding us into along the way. Every time the Lord chooses to do something in our lives I am so thankful and so adoring and it seems incomprehensible and yet he seems to outdo himself the next time. I praise God that through every journey this past year he has led us to the place he wants us today.
Let's catch up with the family shall we....
John is still doing the same job. He is however hoping for an opportunity to get a little bit of a change in his job situation. I (Danielle) am still in school but am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. This college thing has turned out to be more of a challenge than I could have ever imagined. It is difficult being a great mom and a great student. So from now until graduation I am focused on the purpose of God for my life which is to be a Godly wife and mother and my prayer is that by honoring those duties as first priority he will make the days longer and my energy never ending.
Aaron is doing really well in his school. He has learned more than I ever dreamed possible for kindergarten. Sometimes I think we are so accustomed to the "dumbed-down" version of education that the public school system offers that we set that as our own expectations of our children. Aaron is obviously going to be our studious child. He LOVES to learn. He is very curious about the world around him. He is also very sensitive and compassionate. He is however not a leader or aggressive. Our prayer for him for the new year is that God would begin to instill in him a sense of confidence in who he is as a child of God and that he would begin to assert his own position in life. We pray that he would be a follower only of Christ and others would see Christ through him.
Logan is well...Logan. He is still a bit rough and loud. He is still not talking (which of course worries me). He is tons of fun. He laughs constantly and absolutely LOVES life. He is bubbly and loves to be the center of attention. He definitely makes up for what Aaron lacks in leadership as Logan is the tackler. If he does not get what he wants he will tackle someone for it. Of course John thinks he is a natural.... I have to admit.. He does do a great wrap around and tackle for a 2 year old. Our prayer for Logan in this new year is that if he does have some type developmental delay and that if he does, the doctors would find it quickly and we can begin working on a treatment for it.
Of course our number one prayer for the year is that our children fall more and more in love with Christ each day. We want for them both to be saturated and brainwashed in the truths of God and that his word is hidden in their hearts. We pray that as parents we adequately show the unconditional love of Christ as well as the discipline of Christ. We pray that our example and our words are words that would cause our children to seek after God and not after us. God has blessed us with two beautiful and precious treasures from heaven. Our prayer that we would protect and honor those most precious gifts and prepare them as they prepare to spend their lives in bringing glory to their Lord.
To God be all the glory!
