Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!

You shall love the LORD your Godwith all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart.

You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals o your forehead.

You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Picked to perfection June 17, 2009

Genesis 1:9-13 And God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so.God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.

We are surrounded by amazing architecture and brilliant scenes. There are many days when I am still in shock that I am getting to spend time living in this place. England is beautiful. It is a rich and unique experience. But some days it is nice to just enjoy those simple everyday things. The things we take for granted. The tiny little things that scream forth the Majesty of God. Little bugs crawling around, fruit growing on trees and bushes, snails working to make it across the sidewalk. It is often the case that we look for huge major instances to point to Christ but I think it is in the small things that we see him best. Maybe his attention to the smallest of details is of comfort to me. I am not sure why but when I see a vast field of green vegetation and one wild purple wild flower in the middle of it, I can not help but think about the significance of that one small flower. It may be small, it may be different but it stands proudly shining toward the heavens. And I wonder if it is just there for me. Just a whisper from God. Just a little smile for that moment. The small things do indeed matter.

Last week we had the opportunity to go to a Pick Your Strawberries Farm with the home school group. We had a great time. And standing in that field of strawberry bushes I was reminded of how Majestic our God is. I was reminded of his provision, his plans, his perfect creation. It may seem trivial to some but for me it was a great reminder of my Great Savior!

The boys had a wonderful time. Logan of course eating more strawberries than he actually placed in his basket. Aaron had fun trying to find the ones that were the most red and the biggest. I love seeing them take joy in the simple things. I love that the small things are such a big deal to them.
